Responsibilities:
- Contextual inquiry to understand the user’s goals, workflow, and environment.
- Performing task analysis, describing use cases and user scenarios, and creating personas.
- Usability testing and analysis.
- Creating mockups, wireframes, and prototypes to communicate designs, behavior, and workflow.
- Presentation of designs and concepts to clients and internal staff – explaining the rationale for the proposed designs and gathering feedback for refinements.
- Jointly developing estimates, work plans, and mentoring other designers.
- Working proactively with other designers, product managers, and engineers to create, document, and implement interface designs that meet our clients’ business/ brand/ market needs, and user scenarios.
- Working on multiple projects and assignments, setting priorities with your manager and the project manager, and delivering according to agreed plans / estimates / schedule.
- Participating in cross-group activities and joint collaborative projects requiring regular work sharing for input and feedback.
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of user interface design expertise including significant experience designing dynamic (database-driven) web-based applications.
- Online portfolio showcasing the above and examples of solving complex UI problems / requirements.
- Strong creative, conceptual, and problem solving skills along with strong communication and presentation skills.
- Up-to-date knowledge of user centered design principles and practices.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with other Design, Product Management, Engineering/Web Development staff, and Clients to design and deliver a great finished product.
- Interest in working on a wide variety of client projects in support of a consulting practice.
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Visio/OmniGraffle (wireframing software), and MS-Office applications.
- Understanding of contemporary trends including latest Web 2.0 interaction paradigms.
- Understanding of web technology and applications, e.g. HTML, CSS, XML, DHTML, Ajax, etc.
- Masters in Interaction Design, Human Factors or Industrial Design, or equivalent experience.
Education and Experience:
- Masters in Interaction Design, Human Factors or Industrial Design, or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of user interface design experience including significant experience designing dynamic (database-driven) web-based applications.
